III. Tasks:

1. Characterize the Mor children, their relations with each other, their attitude to their parents

and other people.

2. Briefly speak about the English school system (on the basis of chapters 2, 3,8).

3. Describe the scene in which we are introduced to “tears of blood”.

4. Speak on Mor’s feelings when he was seeing Nan off. Reflect on his semi-state of euphoria at

the train station.

5. Speak on his declaration of love to Rain. Proved that love changed him into a new being.

Chapters 10, 11

1. Paraphrase or explain:

a. The House Match, which was the final in a knock-out contest, normally lasted for two days (p.112)

b. Mor looked at her, and he felt as if an enormous vehicle had driven straight through him. (p.114)

c. He couldn’r afford, at this time in the summer term, to have two crises on his hands at once. (p.116)

2. Comprehension check. Correct the following.

a. The weather on the day of the House Match was nasty.

b. Mor feared that Rain Carter wouldn’t like him after the outburst of his feelings in the forest.

c. Bledyard liked, Demoyte’s portrait by Rain Carter, in his opinion it was true to life.

3. Say whose words these are and what motives they are prompted by.

4. Translate the sentences:
