Conclusion and Findings.

Opening of the Russian borders to foreign capital has become one of the main aspects of the liberalization of the economy of the country. Foreign banks actively began to come to the market of banking services. This was primarily due to higher-yielding activities in Russia, compared with activity in Europe. But it is necessary to understand that the higher yield is accompanied by higher risk. Therefore, the crisis of 2008-2009 has forced foreign banks change strategy in respect of doing business in Russia. Often foreign-owned banks in Russia actively helped their parent banks. This fact adversely affects the competitive position in relation to national banks, particularly when compared with state-owned banks.

According to analysts, the continuing recession in the European Union gives reason to believe that European banks in Russia will reduce the share of its presence. As mentioned earlier, this will be dictated by the necessity of «salvation» of their parent banks. In view of such developments, the Russian banking market run the risk of becoming non-competitive, because the share of public banks in several times higher than the share of commercial banks. We can say with confidence, that this does not have a positive effect on the entire economy of Russia. But foreign banks do not go away completely from the Russian market. Confirmation of this can be is a Russia's accession to the WTO. Besides the rather stable situation in the political and economic aspects gives grounds to suggest that foreign banks will remain in the banking sector of Russia.
