III Основной этап (совершенствование умений диалогической речи) (17 мин)

T: Excellent, thanks a lot. You know, very often we don’t know how to find this or that place. And we turn to other people for help. Let’s listen to a dialogue about Andy. He has lost his way, so he asks Pete to help him. How does he do it?

There are some unknown phrases in the dialogue. First of all “to turn to the left/right” (беспереводной способ семантизации – картинка). What does it mean?

P: повернуть налево/направо

T: Very good! Another word is “a block”. Try and guess its meaning. It is a large building or a group of buildings. Put up your hands if the meaning is clear. (При необходимости - семантизация: многоэтажный дом или квартал). And what is the Russian for “to walk two blocks”?

P: пройти два многоэтажных дома или квартала.

T: That’s correct. And what do traffic lights mean? Have a look at the picture (беспереводной способ семантизации – картинка)

T: And now let’s listen to the dialogue. (Учащиеся слушают диалог, отвечают на вопрос.) Mind that it is polite in Britain to say “Excuse me!” when you address a person in the street. Only then you say “Could you help me?”. And what do Russian people say in this situation? (Ответы учащихся, комментарий учителя при необходимости).

(Прослушивание во второй раз – учащиеся повторяют по строчке за кассетой.)

T: Now, Helen and Sasha read the dialogue. Helen is Andy and Sasha is Pete. (диагностирующее чтение)

Диалог:

Andy: Excuse me. Could you help me?

Pete: Sure. What do you want?

Andy: Where is 42, Green Street, please?

Pete: Oh, that’s easy. Walk to the corner and then turn to the left.

Andy: To the corner and then to the left?

Pete: That’s right. And then walk two blocks to the traffic lights. And you are in Green Street.

Andy: Thank you.

T: Very good! (затем отработка в режиме: T-Cl, T-Gr, P1, P2, P3, контрольное чтение)

T: Well done! This takes us to the next point. In the box below the dialogue there are some phrases. The idea of the task is to make up your own dialogues. Change the phrases in bold for the phrases in the box. Split into pairs and get ready. I’ll have to stop you in a minute. (Отвечают две пары.)
