I. Организационный этап (8 мин)

1) Организационный момент

Т: Good morning, children. Glad to see you! How are you today, Masha?

P1: I am fine, thank you.

T: And you, P2, how is life?

P2: I’m fine, too, thanks.

T: That’s great. Glad to hear that. Today you’ll speak about city life using some new words. You’ll learn what people do when they lose their way. You’ll make up your own dialogues.

T: The first thing I’d like to start off today is a small poem. Let’s have a look at it. Read it, please. Then say if you like to do the same things.

T: Do you like to do the same things when you have spare time?

Can you translate the poem into Russian?

T: Will you read the poem, please? (Читает средний ученик.)

T: OK, it was nearly right, but you should mind some sounds…

T: Now listen to my reading, please.

T: Look, the word “swim” in this poem has the sound [I]. Is it a long sound or a short one?

P: It is a short sound.

T: So you say that you like to swim and to skate. And what else do you like to do when you have spare time?

II Основной этап (ознакомление с лексическими единицами и тренировка) (17 мин)

1) Ознакомление с новыми лексическими единицами

(Новые слова написаны на доске с транскрипцией, картинки прикреплены под соответствующими словами)

T: And I like to go to the cinema. Look at the picture! (беспереводной способ семантизации – картинка)

T: And we say that a film is on at the cinema. For example: “Harry Potter” is on at the cinema now. That means that you can go to the cinema and watch “Harry Potter” there. Put up your hands if the meaning of “the film is on at the cinema” clear.

T: Very good! And in the evenings I usually go to the theatre. Look at the picture! (беспереводной способ семантизации – картинка)

T: On Sundays I usually go to church. Look at the picture! (беспереводной способ семантизации – картинка, при необходимости - перевод)

T: Sometimes I like to go to Red Square. (беспереводной способ семантизации – картинка)

What is the Russian for “Red Square”?

P: Красная Площадь

T: So “a square” means …

P: площадь

T: Red Square is the main square in Moscow. “The main” means “the most important”. Put up your hands if you have guessed the meaning of the word “main”. (При необходимости перевод.)

T: That’s right. The main square of London is Trafalgar Square. Look at the picture (картинка). Do you like it? OK! The main city of Russia is Moscow. We all live in Moscow and it’s a big city. What is the Russian for “city”?

P: город

T: Very good! A town has the same meaning as a city, but a city is big and a town is small. На доске: city-big, town-small.

T: Vadim, can you do me a favour, please? Look out of the window and say if the street is quiet or not? Are there many cars on the road? (беспереводной способ семантизации – картинка)

P: No, there aren’t.
