12. Additional networks of sdh.

The main feature of SDH is monitoring opportunity and operating controlling of this network, it allows providing the good functional quality. For organizing of such controlling two additional networks are introduced.

TMN ( Telecommunication Management network), as multiplexing of STM – 1 in STM – of higher level is performed synchronously in SDH network, than the additional and specialized transmission network synchronizing frequencies are introduced for such multiplexing. This two networks are called additional SDH networks.

12.1 The main principles of the network management.

The main tasks of the of the network management are:

  1. Organizing of the optimal network topology and the network map designing, which show the main network elements, channels and their connections.

  2. Organizing of the physical network state and separate blocks;

  3. Hanging of error situations and giving of recommendations;

  4. Archiving and storage of network state information;

  5. Traffic control in different sections of the network.

Functions of network control

Common:

-Controlling of information moving

- Holding, displaying, sorting and information search about the network status.

Applied functions are subdivided into 5 categories:

Category; name; function

  1. Configuration: collection and displaying of information about network elements (types and their location)

  2. Control of quality: controlling and supporting of basic network characteristics with a required level;

collection, holding and indication of static data

  1. Troubleshooting control: define place of breaking, type of breaking, report to technical staff, recommendation for these damages elimination

  2. Quoting control: controlling of resources usage frequency and ticketing

  3. Managing of security: protection of network from unauthorized usage, switching off of unwanted elements

Model of TMN

ITU accepted hierarchical structure of TMN model. This model contains 4 levels of management

Network elements are objects of management: Switching Stations, communication lines (stationary equipment, line-cable construction – Mx, DxC) , testing management.

The main component and interfaces of TMN

TMN includes operating system and data-transmission network.

Management TMN network is marked as ----

F – interface for connection of working station (personal computers – are the working stations with the help of which network subscribers manage the network elements (NE) through the TMN OS or directly through the DT network) with TMN.

DT network interconnect through the Q1 and Q2 interfaces.

Q1 – performs the direct connection with the NE, Q2 – performs the NE connection through additional elements (mediator), which implements the intermediate processing and information storage. Connection of OS with DT network is performed through Q3. X interface – connection of the management network with other management networks.

Transmission of management signals and their delivery to the NE is performed through the DT network. Channels which are selected in informational structure are used as the DT channels. (in overheads of SDH informational structures)
