4.4. The main difference of object clauses from time clauses and condition clauses.

Don’t mix up object clauses with time clauses and condition clauses introduced by the same conjunctions if and when with reference to the future.

Remember in object clauses after these conjunctions the Future Simple is possible, but in time and condition clauses the Future Simple is impossible. The Present Simple is used instead.

Object clause

Time clause

I don’t know when he will come.

When he comes, we will talk.

Condition clause (if-clause)

I don’t know if he will come.

Я не знаю, придет ли он.

If he comes, we will talk.
