32. 64.Us national fla g - stars and stripes
The Stars and Stripes is the most popular name for the red, white and blue national flag of the United States. The 13 strips typify the original 13 States, the 50 stars represent the 50 States.
The 13 original States were Connecticut, Delaware, Ge Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia.
At the start of the Revolutionary War in America (1775-1783) the colonists fought under many flags. The first flag to represent all the colonies was the Continental Colors, also called the Caim bridge, or Grand Union, Flag. This flag, on which the British flag appeared at the upper left, served as the unofficial American flag from 1775 to 1777. It was also the first American flag to be saluted by another country.
After the Declaration of Independen. On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress resolved that "the Flag of the United states be 13 stripes alternate red and white," and that “ the Union be 13 stars white in a blue field representing a new constellation".
The design of the flag - the arrangement of the stars – was changing with the number of states coming into the Union.
The U.S. flag flies over the White House whether or not the President is in Washington, D.C., and it flies over the Capitol every day. The United States flag also flies over the House of Representatives wing of the Capitol when the House is in session and over the Senate wing when the Senate is in session.
The Navy Jack, a blue flag with white stars, stands for the United States whenever it flies from a U.S. Navy ship. The stars and colors of the U.S. flag appear in many federal and state flags.
