POLICE and DETECTIVE CAREER OVERVIEW

JUDGE AND JUDICIAL CAREER OVERVIEW
LAWYER, ATTORNEY AND LEGAL CAREER OVERVIEW
1.
The principle task of judges is to oversee legal proceedings and apply laws. Everything from common traffic offenses to criminal issues are presided
over by a judge. His most obvious role is to listen to attorneys' arguments. In addition, judges also make decisions about what evidence and testimony to present to the court, how examination of witnesses will occur. Judges also must ensure that protocol is followed. Judges may impose limitations on persons involved in a civil case or determine that the accused must stay in jail until the trial is over.
Judges are also responsible for instructing the jury about relevant laws and how to interpret facts. When a jury is not involved in a trial, it is the judge who determines guilt and imposes the sentence.

The principle task of detectives is to collect evidence and obtain facts about criminal cases. So, they conduct interviews, observe suspects, and examine records. Some detectives deal with specific types of crime, like drug trafficking or gang activity.
The primary task of any law enforcement officer is to protect the property and lives of the people in their jurisdiction on or off duty. This task is performed by an inspector, or local police officer. Police officers perform common policing activities, including things like traffic control at the scene of an accident, regular patrols, investigations of crimes like theft and assault, and first aid response at accidents.
They patrol the area primarily in a car, on horseback, motorcycle, bicycle, or boat. Special police agencies employ both uniformed officers and investigators. Patrol officers usually work with those who violate state traffic laws; direct traffic at accident scenes; write reports and determine causes of traffic accidents, and respond to individual calls and situations.
Lawyers and attorneys serve both as advocates and advisors. Lawyers' individual job descriptions depend greatly on their expertise, training, and position in a firm. Some lawyers practice in court more often than others. They become

attorneys or litigation attorneys who
specialize in trial work and represent clients
in a lawsuit. Their daily responsibilities include interviewing
clients, giving legal
advice, performing legal research, arguing motions before a judge,
and drafting legal documents.
The majority of lawyers practice in criminal or civil court. Criminal attorneys represent persons charged with committing some crime. Corporate attorneys, or transactional lawyers, advise and negotiate business transactions, draft transactional documents, counsel clients, prepare materials to governmental bodies, perform legal research, draft a variety of legal documents including contracts, and trust agreements. Corporate lawyers work on "deals" not on "cases" and advocate in board rooms.
