So, now we know a lot about different professions, occupations and skills. We read different texts about hiring, jobs, interviews. Before we start, answer my questions please. So what does the person do if he wants to find a job?
P1: He has to go to the firm, where he wants to work and fill the application form.
T: Yes, and then?
P2: He should leave there his CV.
T: And what is CV?
P3: CV is a brief written account on your personal skills and your education, and the jobs you have had.
T: You are absolutely right. And what is else?
P4: And if the manager likes your CV, he’ll invite you at the interview.
T: Yes, and if you are suitable for this job, you’ll get it.
And now, imagine that you are looking for a job and you are going to hold an interview with the manager of the company. You will be divided in pairs, one of you will be a manager, and another an interviewer. You will have the cards with different professions. The task of the interviewer to tell about this skills and persuade manager to take him for a job. The task of the manager is to listen to the interview and decide if he convenient for this job or not, and then, explain your choice. Is it clear?
Now you have several minutes to read the information in your cards. Ask if you have any questions.
No questions? Let’s start.
Проведение игры
(ученики разделены по парам, с опорой на карточки «кандидаты » рассказывают о себе, о своих знаниях и умениях, «менеджеры » их выслушивают и затем высказывают свое решение)
Примерные высказывания учеников
P1: (photographer): Hi, my name is Mike. I’m 25 and I’m the professional photographer. I’m fond of photography since childhood. I didn’t graduate the University, but I have many years of practice. I have worked in the different magazine as a freelancer. I have a great portfolio also.
P2: (shop assistant): Hi, my name is Kate. I’m 24. And I’d like to work as a shop assistant. I like to communicate with people and also I know a lot about cosmetics. I have never work at the shop, but I really want.
Контроль выполнения задания
Well done, you have told about yourself as much as you could. Now, please, managers, with the help of your cards could you express your decision. Would you take your applicants for the job?
P3 (manager in the newspaper): I think that P1 is sufficient for this job. I’m looking for the person with the high education, but he has a lot of years of practice and he is young and he is so fond of his occupation. I think that he is a good photographer.
T: Ok, the next manger, please.
(остальные ученики, которые выполняли роль менеджеров, высказывают свое мнение)
T: Very good. So everyone found what he wanted. Somebody found a job and somebody found a worker. I hope you all enjoyed the game. You all did a great job. Thank you.
6) Подведение итогов урока и объяснение домашнего задания – 3 мин
So, at home you should write your personal CV, there is an example how to do it at the page 120 in your textbooks. Please, don’t forget to use the linking words and the thematic vocabulary.
Is it clear? Do you have any questions concerning homework?
Class: No, we don’t have.
T.: Now let’s see what results we have.
P3, P2, P.1 your mark is 5 today. You coped with all the tasks: you could use the lexical material appropriately, you managed to build your speech logically in role playing game and sounded persuasive, you also grasped the main idea of the listening comprehension text, understood the necessary details.
P5, P4, your mark is 4 today. You worked well with the lexical material, but your speech didn’t totally follow the logical pattern. You grasped the main idea of the listening comprehension text but couldn’t cope with putting the activities in the logical position of the text for reading.
You should work on the coherence of your speech; you should make a plan for yourself and follow it carefully. And try to read more, you know, practice makes perfect.
Thank you for the listen. See you on Wednesday. Goodbye.
Class: Goodbye.
