2 . The short characteristic of the modern education system in great britain
According to the administrative district and developed to traditions the education system of Great Britain is subdivided into three subsystems: 1) England and Wales, 2) Northern Ireland, 3) Scotland. Education systems of England, Wales and Northern Ireland on structure differ a little, in an education system of Shotlankdiya there are traditional features.
The modern education system of Great Britain includes in itself:
• preschool education;
• primary education;
• general secondary education;
• system of further education;
• the higher education.

3 . System of compulsory education

The system of compulsory education covers children and teenagers from 5 to 16 years. Duration of academic year — 38 weeks. School day lasts with 9.00 to 15 h. 30 min. with a lunch break and a morning prayer. According to the Act of an education reform (1988) period of compulsory education is subdivided into four "key stakdiya": from 5 to 7 years, from 7 to 11 years, from 11 to 14 years, from 14 to 16 years.
