1. Capitalist evolution of Ukraine within the Russian and Austro-Hungarian empires, its features.

2. Social and political movements in Ukraine in XIX century and the Ukrainian national movement.

Guidelines

In preparing the first question, draw attention to the fact that the political, socio-economic and cultural development of Ukraine in the XIX century was closely connected with the objective process of the Ukrainian nation and the affirmation of capitalist relations.

Among the Ukrainian lands in the XIX century were the south-western part of the Russian Empire, was allocated four major regions: Left-bank Ukraine, Slobozhanshyna, Right-Bank Ukraine and South Ukraine. Reform of the administrative system of the country in the early XIX century was intended to strengthen the power of the imperial government on margin, eliminate their national characteristics and russify non-Russian population. One of the consequences of the imperial government in Ukraine was the displacement of the indigenous population from public life. Most of the Ukrainian nation was the peasantry. In the first half of the XIX century was an intensive schedule of the feudal system. The destruction of natural economy led to the development of capitalist industry. This stimulated the differentiation of the peasantry and the ever increasing use of hired labor and machinery. Gradually formed class laborers and the bourgeoisie, which was accompanied by the development of the national market.

Further development of the industry in Ukraine was accompanied by an increase in the number of industrial enterprises, industrial output, the emergence of new industries. Rapidly developing of sugar refineries, machinery, metallurgical and coal industry was also developed by river transport. Cargo turnover grew in Black and Azov seas ports. Industrial development was accompanied by the formation of new industrial and commercial centers. The development of capitalist industry, the beginning of the industrial revolution, the formation of the proletariat and bourgeoisie classes are an expression of the crisis of feudal system which hampered the socio-economic development of Ukraine in the first half of the XIX century. The elimination of serfdom under "Terms of the peasants, freed from serfdom", signed on February 19, 1861, by Alexander the Second, opened new opportunities for the development of commodity-money relations in the economy of Ukraine.

In considering the second question, focus on the history of public education and socio-political organizations and their impact on the national movement in Ukraine. It is also necessary to investigate the activities of educational institutions (Kharkiv and Kyiv universities) that actively participating in the national cultural revival. Important also was the formation in Ukraine secret political organizations. The most influential political forces in Ukraine in the second half of the XIX century were all current populists, social democrats, liberals, social and women's movements, the Ukrainian national movement activity was represented also by "Prosvita" society and Tovarystvo Tarasa Shevchenko.

In Januar,y 1846 in Kiev appeared Cyril and Methodius Bratstvo- the first Ukrainian illegal statist-political organization. From this time on the politicization of the Ukrainian national movement. This secret anti-serfdom organization was named after the Slavic educators, preachers of the Orthodox Christian religion of IX century Cyril and Methodius. Programming documents and materials, journalistic and artistic works, scientific works, practical social and educational activities of Cyril and Methodius Bratstvo permeates the idea of national revival of Ukraine. Cyril-Methodians found ourselves as thinkers, consistent fighters for a free Ukraine, the intellectual elite of the Ukrainian nation. Despite the fact that Cyril and Methodius Bratstvo was crushed by tsarism and its members are subjected to repression, the impact of his ideas on the further development of Ukraine can not be overemphasized - again in all its complexity on the agenda was made a national issue.
