Dear Paola,

Thanks very much for your letter. Sorry I haven’t written for a long time but I’ve been very busy at work.

I’m very pleased that you want to visit me. When would you like to come? I don’t think you should come in the summer. It’s too hot, and there are too many tourists. The best time to come is on May, June or September. The weather is cooler then, but it’s still very nice. If you come in September, I’ll be on holiday and we can go sight-seeing together.

Have you been to Greece before? There are a lot of things to see in Athens, like the Acropolis of course, and the National Museum. We could also go to Delfi, which is quite near, and I’d like to take you to one of the islands. The beaches there are wonderful, and the sea is clean.

Have you ever tried Greek food? If you haven’t, I’m sure you will like it. We eat a lot of fish and vegetables, and of course the most famous Greek dish is Moussaka- which is aubergines and meat, with a cheese sauce. It’s delicious!

The nightlife in Athens is great! In the evenings we can go to one of the taverns- a kind of restaurant- and have a glass of Retsina, our local wine, and if you like dancing we can go to Exarhia, where there are a lot of discos. I’m sure we’ll have a great time!
