Self study this subject should begin with an analysis of the fundamental changes that the world experienced at the turn of the century. Must determine the most characteristic features of the industrial bourgeois society, a variety of contradictory processes and cultural development. It should consider the fact that the spiritual and material culture of the early twentieth century was the last heir of the nineteenth century, marked as significant achievements, and certain forms of crisis. In this aspect should be considered an internal nature and characteristics of the phenomenon of artistic decadence. Among the incentive factors of formation of this current crisis can be divided into public consciousness, correction of the place and role of art, religion, family life in society. The Art of Decadence was a reflection of many social, political and ideological contradictions. In practice, this manifested itself in the emergence and development of such styles as Symbolism, Futurism, Cubism, Fauvism and more. Overall, the diversity of artistic trends and their means of implementation has become a distinct feature of European culture of the twentieth century.
