На день мого народження син залишився вдома та не пішов до школи, а чоловік на роботу. Вони тримала в секреті, як саме вони збираються відсвяткувати це свято. Я боялася, що вони можуть спричинити безлад, якщо залишаться вдома у двох. Проте я переборола свої страхи. Я вирішила, що не годиться стояти у них на шляху, якщо вони хочуть почастувати мене чимось смачним. Я хотіла відчути, що хтось піклується про мене, хтось готовий пожертвувати своїм часом та зусиллями заради мене. Отже я гарно вбралася і пішла по магазинам.
Коли я прийшла, вечеря вже смачно пахла. Все було чудово. Чоловік і син весь час вставали та сідали, виголошуючи тости за моє здоров’я (proposing toasts to my health). Я насолоджувалася кожною хвилиною і не могла повірити у своє щастя. І недарма.
В кінці кінців з’ясувалося, що моя родина не мала ніякого відношення до смачної вечері. Вони все перевернули догори дригом, поки знайшли кулінарну книгу. Та нажаль, від неї не було ніякої користі. Тоді їм спало на думку заказати їжу в ресторані. Чи була я розчарована? Аж ніяк. Я вже давно не отримувала такого задоволення!
