  1. Translate the following sentences into Ukrainian. Then pick out words with the derivational suffixes – ant, - ance, copy them and try to find words related to them.

  1. We cannot doubt that the economic and social impact of these concepts will be significant.

  1. Read non finite forms 1) expressing simultaneousness of action, 2) having passive meaning:

enjoying, being equipped, having obtained, determining, having been referred, introducing, having developed, regarded, deciding, projected.

  1. Translate the following:

  1. the student determining, the professor delivering, the engineers obtaining, the students translating, the workers doing, the work done, the equation solved, the results obtained, the substance identified;

  2. the weight lifted, the student lifting, the force acting upon, the body acted upon;

  3. going to the Institute, having come home, calculating this problem, having referred to the article, decomposing the substance, having obtained the results;

  4. the materials tested required, the work performed showed, the results obtained showed, the equipment tested required, the problem solved proved, the substances decomposed proved, the equation obtained resulted, the experiments discussed proved, the results obtained required.

  1. Choose the correct forms:

  1. At our Institute there are several subjects (studied, studying) optionally.

  2. Students (taken, taking) exams next week should come to the dean's office.

  3. (Making, having made) the experiment, they discussed the results (obtained, obtaining).

  4. (Listening, having listened) to the lecture, students usually make notes.

  1. Translate from English into Ukraine paying attention to ing-forms and ed-forms:

  1. Making these experiments we can compare the weight of elements.

  2. When translating this article the chemist found the description of a new element.

  3. The forces acting between atoms within a molecule are very great.

  5. Measuring the temperature of the body was necessary.

  1. Translate the following sentences paying attention to the words in bold type:
