At the Office

Mr. Colasanti is an engineer at Machinery Ltd. Maсhinery Ltd. does business with different countries of the world. They sell mining equipment, power equipment and other goods.

Mr. Colasanti's office is on the second floor. There are six desks in it. You see a lot of faxes, letters and cables on them. There is a computer and a telephone on every desk. All the engineers and economists at his office speak one or two foreign languages. The company does business with foreign firms so it is necessary for the employers to know foreign languages.

Mr. Colasanti's working hours begin at 9 o'clock, but he usually comes to the office at a quarter to nine to get ready for work. At 9 o'clock the secretary brings him the mail. He goes through the letters, cables and faxes and sends answers to foreign firms or telephones them. He sometimes receives foreign businessmen from Great Britain, France, Germany and other countries. They usually discuss prices, terms of payment and delivery.

At half past one Mr. Colasanti has lunch. After lunch he sometimes meets directors or engineers of our factories. He finishes his work at 5 o'clock in the afternoon.

Mr. Colasanti is in his office now. He is sitting at the desk and speaking on the phone. The company manager of Bell and Co is phoning him. They are making an appointment for tomorrow.

Mr. Colasanti is very busy today. He has got much work to do. He will stay in his office till 8 o'clock in the evening. He will come home very late.

I'm head of Corporate Finance. I'm responsible for developing the business of the Group. I'm always very busy and I don't have much free time, but when I do, I like fishing.
