Времена группы Perfect Continuous показывают длительность действия, которое началось в прошлом или ранее другого действия и продолжается в определенный момент настоящего, прошедшего или будущего времени, охватывая определенный отрезок времени.

The Present Perfect Continuous Tense
have/ has been + Participle I
The Past Perfect
Continuous Tense
had been + Participle I
The Future Perfect Continuous Tense
shall/ will been + Participle I
Examples:
1. The doctor has been operating the patient for 3 hours. – Доктор оперировал пациента уже в течение 3 часов.
2. The instructor had been giving the lecture for 20 minutes when we entered the room. – Преподаватель читал лекцию уже в течение 20 минут, когда мы вошли в кабинет.
3. By the end of the year she will have been working as a doctor for 15 years. – К концу года будет 15 лет, как он работает врачом.
Следующие глаголы во временах Perfect Continuous не употребляются:
to be, to know, to see, to hear, to love;
to hate, to feel, to watch, to like;
to dislike, to think, to understand, etc.
Следует помнить, что времена группы Perfect Continuous употребляются с такими обозначениями времени как for и since.
