Cabinet committee - groupings of Ministers designed to take the pressure off full Cabinet and to provide a lower-level forum for decision-making.

Papers (?green and white?) -

• Green papers - a consultation document produced by the government which allows people both inside and outside Parliament to debate the subject.

• white papers - a document produced by the government setting out details of future policy on a particular subject

interest groups - a group or organization with particular aims and ideas that tries to influence the government

negotiations -

1. a discussion set up or intended to produce a settlement or agreement

2. the act or process of negotiating

Bills - a formal statement of a planned new law that is discussed before being voted on

wording - the choice and meaning of the words used when you say or write something

amendments - a change to a law, either one that has already been passed or one that is still being discussed
