MAIN FEATURES
•The word "halakhah" is usually translated as "Jewish Law"
•The main feature of Jewish law is that it is an integral part of Judaism.
•This is primarily manifested in their common origin, as well as in the commonality of their sources.
•The norms of Jewish law are connected with religious norms and are mainly aimed at defining the duties of a person as a member of the Jewish community.
•The next feature of Jewish law is that, unlike other legal systems, it is characterized by a mono-national character, that is, the effect of Jewish law applies only to one nation - the Jews.
SOURCES
Halakhah comes from three sources:
•from the Torah,
•from laws instituted by the rabbis and
•from long-standing customs.
•The legal system of Israel is mixed : it has elements of Romano- Germanic and common law, as well as religious - Jewish and Islamic law.
•Jewish law became part of its legal system, but not its basis.
THE MAIN GOALS
•With the help of Jewish law, issues of marriage, divorce, material maintenance of family members, alimony and personal property management are resolved.
•In addition, relations concerning religious worship and charity, interpretation of religious concepts (marriage and divorce of foreign Jews and Jews living in Israel) are regulated by Jewish law.
