9) Best regards,

1) I go to an English specialized school.
2) We learn languages deeply. 3) As English
is the first and the main language we learn,
everything in our school is designed in a British
way. 4) Sometimes we even jokingly call
each other Sirs and Madams. 5) As in every
school, we have our own traditions and customs.
6) The first and foremost tradition is
special Tuesday. 7) This is the day when we
speak only English even during the breaks
and in the school canteen. 8) We enjoy this
day ’cause it is much fun. 9) Sometimes we
carry this tradition beyond our school and
start speaking English to each other while
walking home and talking over the phone.
10) Many people look at us in surprise and
confusion. 11) We also have traditional British
five o’clock tea. 12) We have a special break
when all the pupils have a possibility to go
to the canteen and buy a cup of fine English
tea with croissant, bun or some marmalade.
13) It is no wonder that my favourite subject
at school is English. 14) I also adore French
and Chinese studies. 15) I must say that all
language teachers in our school are highly professional
specialists, both as teachers and as
philologists. 16) We often spend our free time
chatting with our teachers during the breaks
and going to cinema or English-speaking clubs
when the school is over. 17) Language lessons
cannot be boring. 18) We often discuss hot
topics and write essays, expressing our ideas
and our teachers are very attentive to them. 19) No one is afraid of making a mistake so we
speak freely and willingly. 20) I think that our
teachers have developed the most important
ability in us. 21) The ability to think independently.
22) It will never let us lag behind in
any sphere we will work in our future. 23) And
I feel very grateful to them for that. 24) I am
sure that in ten years after we leave school, we
will be happy to meet here again. 25) We will
have many things to discuss and even more
things to be proud of.

1) Hi Jane,
I have just returned from an exhibition of
stone art held in our city exhibition centre.
2) I must say, I am really impressed. 3) There
are many smart installations of stones of
different origin and contents: from gems to
pebbles. 4) The designers worked miracles!
5) I could have never thought that it is possible
to make a beautiful wall mirror from
a plate of a finely polished stone! 6) Well, it
is impossible to express it in words. 7) You
must come and see it. 8) It is an order!
9) See you soon.

1) Environmental pollution is a burning
problem of our society. 2) Industrial and
household waste is the result of humanactivity and our irresponsible treatment of
nature. 3) Our cities and towns as well as
nature in general suffer from a huge amount
of waste of different origin. 4) Cans, bottles
and paper do not make the place we live in
look attractive, moreover they pollute the
soil. 5) In our city there is a very nice river
called the Lopan. 6) It flows through the city
under several bridges and usually looks quite
nice and attractive. 7) However, people in our
city do not always follow the rules of correct
and responsible attitude to nature. 8) As a
result, in the place where the river crosses a
huge market in the central part of the city it
almost drowns in different kinds and sorts
of wastes: from paper slips and ribbons to
cans and car tires! 9) It is not easy for me to
understand how it is possible to turn such a
nice place into a terrible garbage pile. 10) We
live in this place, walk every day beside it
and such an attitude means that we turn our
own home into the pile of garbage. 11) The
poor river looks miserable under the coat of
waste. 12) Even the water became smelly as
if it is a drainpipe not a river it slowly flows
in. 13) I am absolutely sure that we have no
right to allow such things happen. 14) We
ourselves damage our health! 15) So we must
make the following steps to solve the problem.
16) First, we must educate our people
about proper nature-friendly behaviour.
17) Second, we must clean the river and do
our best to keep it clear. 18) Third, we must
never forget that our own health is greatly
dependent on the state of nature conditions
we live in. 19) So, the better we treat the surroundings,
the better they treat us. 20) We
must not forget that future generations will
also be grateful to us for protecting nature
and caring for it. 21) Everyone realizes that
it is better to live next to a clean bright spring
than next to a smelly poisonous bog. 22) And
at this moment it is up to us to decide what
awaits us in the near future: the spring or the
bog. 23) Let’s make the right choice.
