Solving problems Mr. Carroll ― Department Head
Mrs. Luchko ― a trainee
Mr. Carrol: |
There are several ways we can do this. |
Mrs. Luchko: |
Yes. I'm sure. |
Mr. Carrol: |
If we seek donations, we'll probably get them. But that will take time. |
Mrs. Luchko: |
Yes. You're right. |
Mr. Carrol: |
If we spend our own money, we can start right away, but we'll have to go in debt. |
Mrs. Luchko: |
Most probably. |
Mr. Carrol: |
Or we could ask for an advance on our fourth-quarter profits. |
Mrs. Luchko: |
That's possible, too. |
Mr. Carrol: |
So what do you think? |
Mrs. Luchko: |
I think we should pick and get started. |
Mr. Carrol: |
But we have to decide first. |
Mrs. Luchko: |
Of course. |
Mr. Carrol: |

Discussion

People often say such things as “Italians are good lovers” or “Englishmen are cold-blooded”. What other generalizations of this nature can you think of?
-
Do these generalizations serve any useful purpose? If so, what?
-
What do foreigners say about your own national character?
