Airport Facilities
At the airport terminal building flight information boards display information about arriving and departing flights. The airlines employees take passengers’ baggage and give them baggage claim receipts. The baggage moves on a conveyor belt to the baggage make up room. There, the luggage for each flight is sorted and placed in containers or on carts to be loaded on the proper airplane.
Modern airport terminals have banks, restaurants, snack bars, gift shops, newsstands and bookstores, game rooms, flower shops, boutiques and even hotels.
Workers clean the cabin, put food from the in-flight kitchen on the plane, pump drinking water aboard, and load baggage and cargo. Fuel is pumped into tanks in the plane’s wings. An airline usually takes about 45 minutes to unload a plane and then load and service it for its next flight.
