.pdfLEVELS of PLANNINGS (typical)
1. Planning level 1: on an A4 sheet, 15 to 20 lines, with key dates and key durations
generally, no links between the lines(= activities)
= reference planning |
Target tool = management level |
|
|
2. Planning level 2: on an A0 sheet, about 100 lines, shorter durations, some major links
= working planning |
Organisation and checking tool = |
|
engineers in charge |
||
|
3. Planning level 3: CPM = critical path method = PERT Planning
Planning built from logigrams, tasks sequencing, and resources analysis
= technical planning |
Analysis and organisation tool |
|
= planning technicians |
||
|
4. Documents at level 4, documents working registers, at execution level, which feed level 3

GANTT DIAGRAMS
Plannings levels 1 and 2 are « Gantt Diagrams » = A set of horizontal bars along a time scale.
Each line represents an activity, a task or a macro-task, indicating starting date, duration and completion date
Softwares like Microsoft MS Project, allow to arrange large quantities of tasks, whilst interfacing them with constraints for starting, ending, lagging, in sequence or in parallel, as well as tracking up the progress
