RETURN OF COAL

Foster Wheeler, the world's leading supplier of marine boilers, has been awarded a contract* for two coal-fired marine steam ge­nerators. They are the first such units to be ordered for a United States ocean-going vessel in nearly 50 years.

The boilers will power a 665-foot vessel, each supplying 48,000 pounds of superheated steam per hour at a temperature of 900°F and operating at a pressure of 870 psi. Only proven techno­logy is used and the fuel is readily available coal.

The boilers and the totally enclosed coal and ash handling sys­tems are engineered to meet specific operating requirements and with these fully automated units there is no need for additional manpower.
