I really can't stand 1 airports. I always 2……………………far too early and then I have loads of time to kill. It's so dull sitting around and drinking endless cups of coffee. GRAMMAR COMMENT

Like Simple Future, Future in the Past has two different forms in English: "would" and "was going to." Although the two forms can sometimes be used interchangeably, they often express two different meanings.

USE - Future in the Past is used to express the idea that in the past you thought something would happen in the future. It does not matter if you are correct or not. Future in the Past follows the same basic rules as the Simple Future. "Would" is used to volunteer or promise, and "was going to" is used to plan. Moreover, both forms can be used to make predictions about the future.

Exercise 5 You are going to read a short story about computer addict. Try to predict what problems he could have.

When Ermek was eighteen, he seemed to be very interested in computers. His parents knew that he would love to have one, but they couldn’t afford to buy one. He learned how to use his friend’s computer, but he couldn’t wait to get one of his own. His father decided to work extra hours to buy him computer. At first his father let him use it four an hour a day. By the time Ermek was fourteen he had become very good at using his computer, but it was his only hobby. His parents wanted him to go out, but he had very few friends and he didn’t want to. Nobody persuade him to do anything and nothing could make him turn his computer off.

His parents didn’t know what to do. Their son had become a computer addict. Even the family doctor didn’t know how to help. One morning Ermek’s mother found him lying on the floor. He had collapsed exhaustion. A fortnight in hospital finally made Ermek realize that his computer had become a dangerous obsession. Now Ermek is sixteen. He had lots of friends and hobbies. He hopes to study computer science at university and would like to find a job in computer research.

Exercise 6 Discuss in groups of three or four. What advise would you give to frequent computer user?

E xercise 7. Make a list of good and bad habits you think which are unhealthy.

Exercise 8 Write about habits using your list in exercise 7.

You see that good habits will get you much more good attention than bad habits. Write about your bad habits and how could you correct your bad habits in social situations.
