Англійський дієприкметник (The Participle І) відповідає українському дієприкметнику і дієприслівнику.

Resting – відпочиваючий; відпочиваючи

The Participle І = інфінітив без частинки to + -ing

to read + ing = reading читаючи; той, хто читає

to take + ing = taking беручи; той, хто бере

to stop +ing = stopping зупиняючись; той, хто зупиняється

Participle І вживається самостійно та для утворення часів групи Continuous.

1. Утворіть від даних дієслів Participle I та перекладіть їх:

to read, to stand, to play, to sit, to move, to send, to take, to find, to meet, to close, to write, to give, to work, to look, to do, to buy, to visit, to have

2. Прочитайте та перекладіть речення.

1.I like the girl standing at the window. 2. Standing at the window I could see playing children. 3. Studying at the technical school he was interested in English! 4. People living one hundred years ago knew nothing of radio. 5. When studying at the institute he was interested in biology. 6. Take the book from the girl sitting on the sofa. 7. She is loving mother. 8. Entering the room he dropped his keys. 9. He set in the arm-chair thinking. 10. She came up to us breathing heavily. 11. The hall was full of laughing people. 12. The boy smiled showing his teeth. 13. The singing girl was about fourteen. 14. Mother put eggs into the boiling water. 15. Writing letters is waste the time.

3. Замініть підрядні речення дієприкметниковими зворотами з Participle I:

1. The woman who is looking out of the window is my aunt. 2. The children who are playing in the garden are very noisy. 3. She came up to the man who was standing at the door. 4.
