BIOGRAPHIES

Anatoly Kirilenko was born in Tambov, Russia, in 1943. He graduated from the Radiophysics Department of the Kharkov State University, Ukraine, in 1965. He received Cand.Sci. and Dr.Sci. degrees from the Kharkov State University, in 1970 and 1980, respectively, and the title of Professor in Radiophysics from the Academy of Sciences, USSR, in 1989.

Since 1981, he is a professor of the National Aerospace University (Kharkov, Ukraine). Since 1965, he has been with the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where he is currently head of the Department of Computational Electromagnetics. His research interests are analytical and numerical methods in electromagnetics, resonance phenomena in waveguides and gratings, microwave CAE and CAD. He is a winner of the State Prize of Ukraine in the fields of science and technology, 1989.

Leonid Rud was born in the Donetsk region, Ukraine, in 1946. He received the Radiophysics Engineering degree from the Kharkov Institute of Radio Electronics, in 1964, Cand.Sci. and Dr.Sci. degrees from the Kharkov State University, in 1974 and 1990, respectively, and the title of Senior Scientist in Radiophysics from the Academy of Sciences, USSR, in 1984.

Since 1971, he has been with the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,

Kharkov, where he is currently a leading scientist in the Department of Computational Electromagnetics. From 1992 to 1996, he was a professor at the Kharkov Technical University of Radio Electronics. His research interests include mathematical simulation of the wave scattering by waveguide discontinuities, spectral theory of the waveguide open resonators, CAD of waveguide components and devices. He is a winner of the State Prize of Ukraine in the fields of Science and Technology, 1989.

Vladimir Tkachenko was born in Lvov, Ukraine, in 1951. He received the Researcher and Cand.Sci. degrees in Radiophysics from the Kharkov State University, in 1973 and 1986, respectively. From 1973 to 1981, he was with the Low Temperature Physics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kharkov, where he was involved

with the development of superconductive antennas theory. In 1981, he joined the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kharkov, where he is currently a senior scientist in the Department of Computational Electromagnetics. From 1991 to 1996, he was an assistant professor at the Kharkov Technical University of Radio Electronics. His research interests are in numerical algorithms and software for the design of microwave devices and largescale modeling systems for the waveguide electromagnetics. In 1991, one of such systems was awarded as the best software in the former USSR in the area of microwave electronics.
